Green is Not a Creative Color

Green is Not a Creative Colour is a catchphrase by Sketchbook from the first episode of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (Web series). The phrase disparages the color green.

In the first episode, the puppets arranged leaves and sticks into their favorite colors (Red Guy blue, Duck Guy red, and Yellow Guy green), however, according to Sketchbook, green is not a creative color, and it places a large black cross over Yellow Guy's leaves.

In the second episode, Tony the Talking Clock utilized the word, "brown" when washing the main characters despite the rhymes of the words and lyrics (such as mean and clean) leading up to the utilization of the word, "green."

GreenShirt

Shirt

The phrase soon gained popularity within the fandom due to its aleatory nature and an official T-shirt featuring the quote was released as a result.[1]

Trivia[]

  • It is possible that Sketchbook only stated that green was not a creative color because it dislikes Yellow Guy since it also ruined his Clown Painting.
  • "GREEN" is also written in the upper right corner of the chalkboard wall of the Big Boys room in the episode Electricity.
  • In the background of the site to purchase the "Green is Not a Creative Colour" T-shirt, a man wearing the T-shirt with four different background colors can be seen, namely red, green, blue and yellow. Only the man with the green background has his head crossed out.[1][2]
